    Styling a coffee table

Creating the perfectly styled coffee table is actually quite simple. No matter what your style, aesthetic, or vibe is these tips are sure to help you flaunt it in the best way possible!
    Anchor
I am a major fan of designing with trays. Having a bunch of trinkets can seem messy and cluttered. Setting those items on tray anchors the objects to that place. Trays help to make the pieces on your coffee table feel purposeful.

    Create Varying Heights
Layering and using different height objects creates interest. You can layer books and place objects on top of coasters. Do not use all objects that are the same height (unless you plan on layering them). Varying height and width pieces are key. Make sure to not use too tall of objects as it may interfere with your view of the TV.

    Add Intriguing Items
This is where your own personal style comes into play! Be sure to add objects that are personal to you and show off those things that you love. GET CREATIVE!

    Go Green
Adding a plant to your decor instantly brings life to your coffee table. Your choices here are pretty limitless. Houseplants are a great for adding color and something organic. I am newer to the plant mom club so I prefer succulents as they are easy to care for.

Bring Some Ambiance to the Table
Last but not least, one easy trick to creating the perfect coffee table is to add a candle. This adds ambiance when you are relaxing on the couch or entertaining guests. It can also serve as a decorative object if the candle comes in a unique container.

    Fall vibes

I was finally able to get my fall decor out last night. This morning when I left for work, it almost felt like it was the start of winter so it is about time I got my things out...

I have really been digging the neutral color fall decor this year with a few pops of fall hues. I have a lot of other colors going on in my apartment so adding in fall tones seemed like a little too much. Although, I do have mustardy tones in my living room so this goes perfectly with the autumn color scheme. I wanted to be able to add in more fall vibes, without taking away from the design style I already have going on in my apartment. These items were the perfect add to coordinate with what I already have going on.
Here is where you can find these items:

    1. Pumpkin Figural - White --- Target
    2. Chunky Knit Throw in Yellow --- Target
    3. Mixed White Berry Wreath --- Target
    4. Give Thanks Pillow Cover --- Amazon
    5. Buffalo Plaid Pillow Cover --- Amazon
    6. Medium Lit Grapevine Pumpkin --- Target
    7. Eat, Drink, & Be Cozy Sign --- Etsy
    8. Pumpkin Vase Filler --- Target

Hope you all are enjoying your fall thus far! What are your favorite fall items to have in the house?

Plant envy - a  guide to bringing Nature vibes indoors

Planting has become a new favorite hobby of mine! Recently, I have realized I currently have NO hobbies... I have been so busy between working two jobs, going to school full-time and working two jobs, or working full-time and going to school full-time over the past 5 years that I lost any free time for hobbies. I have a newfound obsession with plants. A small herb garden is what sparked my interest. I live in a small one-bedroom apartment on the lower east side of Milwaukee. Meaning I have no yard and this was the next best thing to gardening.

There are so many positive aspects to bringing real plants into your home. Plants generate a Zen-like atmosphere. They add beauty and life to a home. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors, knows how relaxing and refreshing it can be. There is something about nature that makes you feel good! Aside from aesthetics, houseplants are known to be beneficial to your health. By removing toxins and purifying the air in your home and creating feel-good vibes, its a win-win!

There are a vast amount of plants out there and deciding what ones are best for your home can seem like a daunting task. I am a person that is rarely home so finding houseplants that are low-maintenance was the main goal. Planting does not have to be so hard, especially if you're a newb like me.

Here are a few of my favorite Houseplants:

    • String of Pearls -- This was my most recent purchase and I am OBSESSED! I love love love the gorgeous strands of beads. String of Pearls is a succulent that is fairly easy to grow. It grows best in areas with access to bright sunlight. Succulents like their roots to be soaked in water, but then they dry out quickly. You only need to water the String of Pears when the soil is bone dry (approx. 1-2x per week). I placed this one on a shelf above my bed, which is right next to my window. The String of Pearls creates a unique focal point in any space. The way the beads spill over baskets and drape over shelves create a truly dramatic look!
Snake Plant (Sansevieria)-- The Snake plant was one of my first real plants. This plant is perfect for newbies or people that lead busy lives. It is so low maintenance and it doesn't take a green thumb to keep these plants alive. Snake plants are not picky. It prefers bright light to full sun, but can tolerate low light. You only need to water this one when the soil is bone dry. It grows best in a pot with drainage and cactus/succulent soil.

TIP: Try to not get water on the leaves. If the plant starts to turn yellow or get soft/mushy, then you have over-watered.

Jade Plant -- This plant is another great low maintenance indoor houseplant. Jade plants do not like to be overwatered! They only need to be watered when the soil is completely dry. These plants enjoy a lot of sunlight. Without sunlight they tend to get leggy. When they get the desired amount of sunlight, they stems start to get woody. The plant will start to turn red, which adds a nice contrast. Jade plants are great for bathrooms. They add a refreshing feel to any master bath.

All three of these houseplants are great for beginners and are a good starting point for bringing fresh vibes to your space! There are so many houseplants that I cannot wait to add to my collection! Next on the list are Aloe, a funky cacti, and some hanging Ivy. What are some of your favorite houseplants and growing tips?
